Rock Hill Halftime Showcase
Last Friday, the Rock Hill Blue Hawk Band debuted their Spirit Show along side the Rockettes at the Rock Hill Halftime Showcase. With our first home game cancelled, Mr. Toth & Mr. Alstrin worked quickly to provide a performance opportunity for us at Children’s Health Stadium. The clear night set a fabulous stage for our band as they debuted their custom uniforms by FJM, Inc. (Fred J. Miller), the #1 marching uniform manufacturer in the world. After kicking things off with a beautiful rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner”, the band set their block back field to begin the drill team portion of the show.
The Rock Hill Rockettes entered the field first to “That’s Entertainment” followed by a Pom-pom routine to “Pretty Fly”. Our Rock Hill Color Guard followed that up with a flag performance to our arrangement of Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell”. They looked amazing in their new spirit costumes! From there, the Rock Hill Band kicked off the marching portion of their show with a patriotic tribute entitled “America” Fantasy. The crowd cheered as the band made a giant American flag on the field and finished by spelling out U.S.A!!! A special shout-out goes out to the front ensemble members who learned new music to accompany the winds just this past week! Getting all the new electronics working for the first time is a daunting task for any band. The Band finished the marching portion of the show by spelling a giant R.H. to our Fight Song, “The Victors”. The night was capped off by a beautiful performance of our Alma Mater, composed by Michael Martin.
Mr. Wilson and the entire staff could not be more proud of how the students performed! After months of work, it’s great to begin seeing the fruits of our labor and set the foundation of our band program for years to come.
We can’t wait for you to see the Blue Hawk Band perform again at the football game on Saturday, October 10 @ 7 pm.
